Ep. 28: "Redefining Rich" with Shannon Hayes, Author, Chef & CEO of Sap Bush Hollow Farm
Shannon Hayes is the chef and CEO of Sap Bush Hollow Farm in the Appalachian culture of West Fulton, New York.
She’s also an author, a storyteller, a game-changer and an advocate for putting community, family & happiness first in the pursuit of a rich life.
I discovered Shannon when we both spoke as a part of a recent Mind over Money summit and her entertaining stories and life philosophy won me over.
Shannon has a PHD from Cornell University in sustainable development and chose to leave academia to carve a life of living & working with her family, a way of living uniquely suited to her values.
She addresses some very important topics in the money & entrepreneurial space including:
Why you don’t have to follow “the system” and how to create your own definition of rich
Why it’s essential to run your own business or have a side hustle and how it will actually save you money
How she transformed the starving farmer mindset (most farmers actually make a loss each year)
What income diversification is and why it’s important
Shannon shared her wisdom with the most delightful sense of humour pared with a sharp intelligence & conscious philosophy.
For a refreshing taking on rich, make sure you listen to this episode & pick up Shannon’s new book, Redefining Rich.
